Reimagining Tourism and Hospitality through African Perspectives: Innovations, Sustainability, and Cultural Resilience.
The University of Zululand (UNIZULU), in collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and Tourism Educators South Africa (TESA), invites postgraduate students, early-career researchers, academics, and industry practitioners to submit abstracts and full research papers for the 2nd Tourism and Hospitality Postgraduate Conference. This conference aims to create a vibrant platform for postgraduate scholarship, collaborative research, and knowledge exchange within the tourism and hospitality disciplines across Africa and beyond. The conference also seeks to contribute toward the establishment of the Pan-African Tourism and Hospitality Postgraduate Research Network (PATH-PGRN).

The conference will be held in a hybrid format (one venue only), allowing participants to attend either physically in Champagne Sports Resort, Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, or virtually.

The conference aims to:

Establish partnerships among African universities towards forming the Pan-African Tourism and Hospitality Postgraduate Research Network (PATH-PGRN).

Strengthen collaborations between academia, Community Tourism Organisations (CTOs), and the tourism industry.

Promote a culture of research and scholarly engagement among postgraduate students.

Support research development, academic writing, and publication outputs.

Provide a platform for emerging researchers to present and defend their research ideas.

Enhance postgraduate students’ confidence in presenting at national and international conferences.

Facilitate capacity building for supervisors and early-career academics.

Improve competencies in research review and constructive academic feedback.

Establish an annual interdisciplinary tourism and hospitality research conference.

Showcase innovations emerging from research and community engagement initiatives.

Promote global citizenship and African-centred scholarship in tourism and hospitality studies.

Submissions are invited in the following areas (but not limited to):
abstract submission guidelines
- Abstracts should be 250–300 words.
- Include title, author(s), institutional affiliation, and email address (indicate the corresponding author’s details).
- Provide 5–6 keywords.
- Indicate whether the presentation will be physical or virtual.
- Abstracts should state research aim or research objectives, methodology, and expected contributions.

Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be invited to submit full papers (maximum of 5000 words) for consideration in:
- Edited Conference Proceedings (ISBN: 978-1-0492-7219-1) in a form of e-book, or
- Special Issue in an accredited journal.
- All Full Papers to be submitted in Word format, no PDF's will be accepted
